Meet The Bhagavad Gita
Tuesday, November 10, 2015 ~ 7:30-9:30 pm
Ever feel perplexed about the direction of your life? Not sure which way is up or down? Confused as to “your path”? The Bhagavad Gita is an ancient text of yogic philosophy (written sometime between 5th century and 2nd century BCE) that guides us to the answers of these questions and many more. Kate Smith will tell us a brief background of this extraordinary allegory for “the battlefield of life” and also explore the thought-provoking concepts of the Gita that might help us in these modern times. The Bhagavad Gita inspires all of us to live our dharma (loosely translated as our “duty” or our “path” in life), act from a selfless place, and pick ourselves up when we feel like we’ve had enough and can’t go any further. The Gita is one of Kate Smith’s favorite subjects. This promises to be a special evening of self-inquiry and discovery.

Every year, a crew of Gaea Yogis – under the trusty leadership of Gaea Yoga Co-Owners Kate & Legare Smith – make an awesome pilgrimage out West to Ojai, California for the International Ojai Yoga Crib.
This is an amazing chance for continuing education and so we encourage all the teachers of Gaea to join us if they can. It’s a chance to recharge our yogic batteries. Get out of town, live in community with other like-minded yogis, and broaden our perspective on yoga and the world. Whether you know it or not, you’re glad we’re going. But it does mean that we will be closed Wednesday, October 21-Sunday, October 25, 2015.
Classes will resume as scheduled on Monday, October 26 2015 as the Gaea Crew of starry-eyed teachers trickle back into town from our magical journey – full of inspiration, with lots of love to share.
Thanks for your understanding, y’all. We promise to bring home tons of new teachings and pass along everything we learn to our remarkable Gaea community.
P.S. All class pass expirations will be extended by a week due to this closing. If you’re on the G-pass, we will be adding an extra week to your pass (you’ll get 2 days on us). This will extend the date of your auto-draft by 7 days.
Spinal Vortices Uncovered
Tuesday, October 13, 2015 ~ 7:30-9:30 pm
Kate Smith plans to unleash her knowledge of the chakras (energy “wheels” of the body) on this Yoga Hive. What exactly are chakras? How do they pertain to me? What can they teach me about myself? How can I work with them? Why should I care? If you’re interested in meditation, healing, self-study, the spine, and/or the energetics of yoga, this should be an evening to inspire and intrigue you.
Just so you know, Kate Smith never thought this would be a subject of interest to her. Chakras were far too “out there” for her for many years of her yogic life. However, under the guidance of scientific and practical teachers, she has come to appreciate the energetic centers of the body. In other words, she promises to put this lecture in layperson’s terms and convey the topic – as she usually does – without too much fluff.
* Please wear comfortable clothes to this event for a short guided chakra meditation.

4 times a year, Kate Smith guides us through a Yin Yoga series in honor of the shift in seasons. In celebration of the Autumnal Equinox (September 23, 2015), Kate will guide us through a series of movements and Yin Yoga poses focused on supporting this transition from the Indian Summer season of the Spleen (related to the Earth element) to the Fall season of the Lung (related to the Metal element). In Chinese Medicine theory, Autumn is a season of letting go. Surrender. Release. Exhale. Kate will also incorporate one of her oh-so-special essential oil blends to commemorate this seasonal shift. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited and our Seasonal Yin events tend to fill up quickly. To register, please visit our Pricing page and choose the appropriate “Momma Earth to Metal” pass from the drop-down menu.
