We are excited to announce that we are now selling Snow Lotus essential oils. Kate has done numerous trainings with the owner/founder of Snow Lotus, Peter Holmes, and trusts this company implicitly to provide superior oils. Because these oils are mainly meant to be used by acupuncturists for work with specific points, Peter is most concerned about the energy or “chi” of the oils he sells. Which means that these oils have really really good chi. As well, this company is not based on any pyramid or multi-level sales tactics. And we like that. Just high grade, certified organic, artisan oils produced by an Herbalist, Acupuncturist, and Master Healer who believes in the power of self-healing.
The ancient yogis tell us that calm is a high vibration. Higher than ecstasy. Meaning, your best orgasm ever wasn’t as good as the true experience of inner peace and calm. Yup. Wow. The ancient rishis actually did the poses to keep their bodies limber and their spines strong so they could comfortably spend hours deep in meditation receiving this cosmic download and experiencing this calm vibration.
Great, but how? Meditation sounds pretty fabulous on paper, but when you actually try to sit quietly, it can make you feel more frantic than calm.
Kate Smith will discuss the basics of meditation. Why meditate? How to meditate? What are some ways you could use props to sit more comfortably? Should the mind be empty or full? What is mindfulness? After a brief lecture on meditation, Kate will guide us through a short Yin Yoga practice to ease our bodies and minds into stillness. The evening will end with aguided chakra meditation. Please don’t be intimidated. No previous experience is needed. And you don’t have to be able to sit in lotus.
Please show up to this Yoga Hive with a yoga mat and wearing comfortable clothes that you can do some easy yin poses in. We have plenty of props to bolster you up for meditation. If you don’t have a mat, you can borrow one.

The shift from the winter to spring is a big one for us. We’ve been hibernating within our bodies through the colder, darker months and now we’re expected to spring forth and blossom into a totally new season. It’s a time of new growth and exposure. In Chinese Medicine theory, we are moving from the water season of the kidney to the wood season of the liver.
Friday, March 20 is the Spring Equinox. Kate Smith will guide a 2-hour yin yoga class incorporating essential oils to foster and celebrate this transformative time.
This class is an aspect of our Yin & Yang Yoga Teacher Training that we are opening up to the community. Space is limited to only 15 students outside of the YYYTT.
